Q Email in Vista Windows Mail disappears after opening it. If I want to read a message a second time, I cannot find it. Could you help?A It's most likely a view setting that's hiding read messages. It's easy to change. Select your inbox, then click View, then Current View and choose Show All Messages. You may need to do this for different folders as well.Q I have a showreel on YouTube, created by a friend who is now overseas. Is there a way I can save a copy of the video from YouTube itself?A There's no official YouTube way to do this but where there's a will, there's a third-party website or browser plug-in. For starters, have a look at Flashload (flashload.net) and the Firefox add-on VideoDownloader (bit.ly/4oVfRT).QThis may be a dumb question but I've only just got an iPod Nano and have never used iTunes. How do I get previously downloaded language tapes already on my computer onto the iPod? Do I need to put them in iTunes? If so, how? Do I need to sign up for an account?A iTunes should play most common sound files and it's likely you'll only have to navigate to the language files and double-click on one for it to be opened by iTunes and added to your library. It will be useful to make a separate playlist before you add many, for organisation and playback ease. Click the "+" button on the bottom left and name the new playlist. You will be able to drag your language files into the new playlist. Then, when you sync your iPod, this playlist should appear on the device, too. You'll only need to create an account if you wish to buy items from iTunes.Q Recently all the files in My Documents began to copy themselves, over and over. When I selected and deleted the excess copies they simply multiplied themselves further. Now I'm afraid to try anything in case I make things worse.A Usually this can be prevented simply by slowing down when selecting multiple files. If you happen to click on a file while the mouse is still moving, the computer recognises this as a drag and drop manoeuvre. And, since the files would essentially be moved within the same folder, My Documents, the action will make copies instead.qa@nicolemanktelow.comsmh.com.au/techtips
